Panhandle CUSD #2 Classroom Addition
Location: Raymond, IL | Owner: Panhandle CUSD #2 | Architect: Graham & Hyde Architects
Panhandle CUSD #2 selected Poettker Construction as the Construction Manager for the classroom addition in Raymond, Illinois. This 24,800 SF, single-story addition is located between the existing Jr/Sr High School and Elementary School in order to connect the two facilities.
Coordination and safety were significant factors in the success of this project. The existing campus included two separate schools with a shared cafeteria located in the high school that the elementary students walked to daily for lunch and other activities.
The Poettker Team worked closely with the school district to develop a “Kid First” approach toward safety. Key strategies included:
- maintaining a temporary fence around the construction site
- relocating existing exterior openings and sidewalks away from the construction area
- scheduling deliveries off-peak hours of student transitioning between classes
The addition consists of 10 classrooms, a speech classroom, a Title 1 classroom, administration offices for the principal and secretary, workroom and teachers’ lounge, storage and equipment rooms, and a multi-purpose/small gymnasium.
