Poettker Construction excelled in each of its four service offerings in 2024. Poettker’s performance earned the company the 29th spot on Building Design+Construction’s list of the Top Construction Management Firms.

The team partnered with 33 different architecture firms in 2024 and built 650,000 square feet as the Design-Build contractor.

With Poettker Construction serving as the General Contractor of 64% of its 2024 projects, that’s where the company truly shined. General Contracting jobs spanned nearly every one of the company’s market sectors.

Poettker Construction prides itself on prioritizing self-performing much of its work, including rough and finish carpentry, door installation, metal wall paneling, and structural and architectural concrete. In 2024, the Poettker team self-performed an incredible 19% of its on-site work hours.

AN INDUSTRY LEADER

In 2024, Poettker Construction broke ground on 540,000 square free of learning spaces. Completion of the 80,000-square-foot Pana Elementary School in June marked an exceptional achievement with 2,140 tons of precast concrete panels set and 364 tons of structural steel, joists and decking installed.

“In 2024, Poettker Construction began building its largest single award school project to date with Cahokia High School,” said Ryan Poettker, President of Poettker Construction. “The education sector is particularly special to us because it gives us an opportunity to engage and get the next generation excited about the construction process of their facilities, as well as career opportunities within the industry. That’s why Poettker Construction developed the NextGen program — to educate students and support the communities in which we live and work.”

Within the Distribution & Warehouse market, construction has been completed for the 472,000-square-foot Innovation Logistics Center in Salisbury, North Carolina, which features 162 load-bearing concrete tilt-up panels and 84 dock doors.

In the Federal & Defense sector, the Poettker team at the Scott Air Force Base Joint Operations & Mission Planning Center continues to exemplify outstanding safety performance by completing over 382,000 work hours without a lost time incident.

As a local, family-owned business, Poettker Construction takes great pride in supporting the communities in which we live and work. In 2024, Poettker supported over 50 charities.

The Midwest team raised $59,000 through its 11th annual golf classic benefiting Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwestern Illinois (BBBSIL), an organization that pairs mentors with underprivileged youths to help them achieve their full potential.

Poettker’s Southeast team began its own philanthropy event this year with its first clay shoot benefiting Dream On 3 Carolinas, a charity committed to making sports dreams a reality for children and young adults with life-altering conditions. Thanks to event sponsors and the 20 competing teams, the event raised $56,000.

Poettker’s NextGen program connects the students and teachers of the company’s education clients with teachings about the construction of their facilities and interactive opportunities to learn about the industry. In 2024, Poettker awarded five scholarships to deserving students, as well as three community impact contributions.
