SIUE School of Dental Medicine
Location: Alton, IL | Owner: Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville | Architect: Woolpert
Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville selected Poettker Construction for the new construction of a Multiple-Disciplinary Laboratory at the School of Dental Medicine in Alton, IL.
This new facility houses wet laboratories, a large simulation laboratory, a ceramic reconstruction room, X-Ray room, casting and dispensing areas, a student study area, classrooms, storage, a physical fitness area, and restrooms/locker areas.
This project required close communication with the owner, architect, and jurisdictional authorities to ensure the project was completed on schedule with limited disruptions to the students who occupied the adjacent buildings.
The facility was constructed to meet LEED Silver standards.
UNIQUE FEATURES
The Dental Lab was in the core of the Dental Campus and was a LEED project. In spite of the complexity of this project, and the cumbersome State bidding process, the Poettker team demonstrated timely, accurate, well prepared, and quality responses as needed. It was my privilege to work with the many people at Poettker who assisted with the project.
