Highland Fire Department

Location: Highland, IL      Owner: City of Highland    |    Architect: David A. Loyet and Associates Architects

The City of Highland selected Poettker Construction for the 1,530 SF addition and renovation to the Highland Fire Department and EMS Department building. The pre-engineered metal building addition includes a dayroom, kitchen, and new glass fire station doors.

The Highland Fire Department responds to approximately 250 calls per year and covers the Highland city limit of 7.6 square miles and provides mutual aid for the neighboring fire districts. The Highland Fire Department is all volunteer and operates from two firehouses. The 28 dedicated volunteers operate the department’s three engines, one aerial truck, 2 rescue boats, 2 utility vehicles, and a special operations trailer. Currently 17 of those are certified firefighters and 9 are certified fire science instructors. The department has a Class 4 ISO rating, which places Highland in the top 15% in the state of Illinois.
