Seven Gables Inn
Location: Clayton, MO | Owner: Restoration St. Louis | Architect: Checkmate Design
Restoration St. Louis enlisted Poettker Construction’s expertise in historic restoration to help rejuvenate the Seven Gables Inn. The Clayton, MO hotel needed overall interior restoration updates and accessibility layout adjustments to better serve its patrons.
Constructed in 1926 in the Tudor Revival architectural style, the National Register of Historic Places includes Seven Gables on its list. This facility currently features a 32-room hotel and restaurant but has previously served many purposes from residential to retail to law office.
The historic restoration updates consist of historic window replacement and interior finish upgrades.
Accessibility elements include constructing a bridge between the 2nd and 3rd floor guest wings and adding an elevator. Additionally, the project called for infilling extra unused staircases and adding more hallways for better access to the guest rooms.
