Pana Elementary School

 Location:  Pana, IL      Owner: Pana CUSD #8    |    Architect: BLDD Architects, Inc.

Pana CUSD #8 partnered with Poettker to help the district replace approximately 80,000 SF of outdated, non-efficient elementary space currently located at 2 separate buildings. The 65,000 SF two-story elementary school is separated into two main zones: public and shared-use areas and the education zone.

The public and shared use areas include:

  • the building’s administrative offices;
  • a commons and cafeteria area to accommodate up to 400 people;
  • an ICC-rated gymnasium with enough space to house two physical education classrooms;
  • art, music, library, mediac center, and STEM areas;

The educational zone is organized with the PK-2 located on the first floor, with the 3rd -5th grades on the second floor. The classrooms wrap around the sides of the central gym, with quick access to and from that area. The campus features an outdoor learning environment with a 1/8 mile walking path and 3 playgrounds tailored to different age levels. For student safety, a designated bus route will be created that is separate from the general parking.

Building Enclosure magazine covered the ribbon cutting ceremony. Jon Carroll, Executive Vice President and Chief Operations Officer with Poettker Construction, said, “We take great pride in our role as the construction manager for the new school and contributing to the creation of a modern and safe learning environment for our future leaders.”
