Mascoutah Middle School Addition & Renovation

Mascoutah CUSD #19 selected Poettker Construction as the Construction Manager At Risk for the addition and renovation of their middle school.
This 28,490 SF project includes a new cafeteria and kitchen as well as classroom renovations and security updates to main entrances.
Key project components included:
- 7,910-SF dining area with occupancy capacity of 400+ that doubles as an auditorium/multipurpose space;
- 2,163-SF serving area;
- 1,670-SF kitchen with dishwashing room, kitchen administration office, and private cooking staff restroom;
- secure receiving and storage area, walk-in freezer/cooler, dry food storage, and custodial space
Safety and coordination were paramount to this project’s success. Majority of the construction was completed during the summer months to limit operation disturbances.
This was the second project Poettker Construction completed as the Construction Manager for Mascoutah CUSD #19.
We greatly appreciate the relationship we have built with Poettker and FGM over the past decade. This team has served as our design and construction experts on 2 projects, managing all aspects throughout the design, construction, closeout, and warranty process. The Middle School project was a difficult project, building a new cafeteria and converting the existing one into science classrooms. During construction, several unforeseen issues were uncovered that Poettker informed us about with recommended solutions to keep the project within budget.
